Let the expert do it!

3 min read

Today started with a fail and a realization-

  • I can't do everything myself.
  • I'm going to hire the best people to do something that I'm not already best at.

Also, this reminded me of Vanhishikha Bhargava talking to me about hiring on a meet call, where she said-

"Whenever I'm hiring for a position, I only choose candidates who can do that particular job better than me."

And this one has stayed with me.

Keeping the same in mind, I realized how I needed to restructure my team so they could do the most with their potential.

So, now we are cold calling local businesses in Delhi NCR, and pitching specialized services to them.

Day 1- 21 calls by Ayushi, 3 meetings booked

And a beautiful website built for one of them.

The goal for us is to sell to at least 10 businesses by the end of August to cover all our expenses for the coming month, so everything else that comes in can be saved and reinvested.

Also, there's been a crunch, the cash flow has been unsteady for a while, and yesterday I almost laid off most of the people who were working for me.

But, there was something about one of them that told me to stick around for a little longer and give her a chance to actually move the needle. By far, it's been well, but it's also been only two days.

Good thing- I'm hopeful and I know the path ahead that will help me ensure that the team is intact, nobody has to leave, and we grow bigger as a company.

The primary challenge right now- distraction from one awesome thing to another- only at work, but a little too much at times.

You could call it neurodivergence, or ADHD, or a routine problem!

My parents would always say it's a routine problem. If I slept on time and woke up on time everyday, it would make my life much better.

I don't dismiss the idea, but once your brain starts being too active during dark hours, the path back is a little too tricky.

But, I'll get there- I promise.

For now, I have ₹6,00,000 worth of new sales to make, and that while building a system that generates us even bigger numbers month-over-month.

So, I'm excited, but a little scared at the same time.

Honestly speaking, this is simple and straightforward, but in most cases, it's my past experiences that tell me it can be a little hard to achieve this number in the time I've given myself.

(Talking to my mother and father always helps).

The silver lining right now- I have a huge list of prospects that the three of us (and even two more professional cold callers) are going to tackle head on and sell to them like our next breath depends on it.

In all the years that I've put in and through all the processes that I have adopted and discarded for marketing, I've learned enough to know that there are so many people who want to buy the exact service that you are going out to sell.

But, the point is- "YOU GOING OUT TO SELL!"

And, since I know how to gather the right kind of cold outreach data, it seems to work for me. Now, I just have to pace it up and scale it up.

Stay tuned. I'll tell you exactly how it's going and how many numbers we are meeting on which days. LET'S EFFING GO!!!
