Oh god! Here we go again!

4 min read

I may be judging myself too hard when I say this-

For the thousandth time after starting my business- I'm again feeling I'm doing something wrong. Or I'm doing something that isn't supposed to work. Or something that's too risky with little or no reward.

At times, moments like these make me recall the sweetness and safety of working in a job. I knew my salary was to be credited on every 5th. My bills would all be clear by the 8th. I'll be going out every weekend, hanging out with my partner and best friends. It almost felt like I had another father apart from my own father who was paying me for doing certain tasks for him each month- until he realized it was no more feasible.

Eventually, while maintaining, running, and scaling business at mangoDigital, I found myself behaving like my own father and mother- learning responsibility again, financial management again (still a hill to climb), and selling; again!

Now, when I think about it, running a business is just like riding a rollercoaster. It's a new high (or low) every other day.

For example, today one of my client clinics called me-

"Lakshaya, we haven't gotten any leads today. What is happening?"

The ads were running fine. Impressions were climbing. The page was getting clicks, but the desk reported no new leads.

In such hours, the first resort for most people is panic- I believe, that's not the worst route honestly. I panicked too and then I sat down to figure out what was happening- and good lord- there was nothing new to find because we check all our campaigns regularly.

The only changes I could make was connecting new landing pages to the sitelinks in the ads, and reviewing the existing headings, so we fixed that. And two calls came by the end of the day.

Now, the Google Ads campaign is pretty tight at the moment, the Patient Reactivation Sequences have already started rolling out, we have even started getting responses to our survey questions (the current response rate is 9%). Honestly, this one gets me excited because I didn't read this idea in any book, didn't watch it in a video, and also didn't hear it in a podcast- this one just came to me like my entire CGIS framework. And watching it in action, creating real results for clinics always makes me feel confident.

Do you see how my mood has shifted from gloomy and tired in the start to joyful after I talked about my product's micro success- even when I've done this before for over fifteen clinics?

That's what I love about business! Also, that's what I was telling my friend Shivanshu today-

So, he wanted to talk about something he is planning to start! I hope he reads this blog one day and goes- "Wow! I'm glad I made the move."

I heard Shivanshu's idea of pitching his skill to other businesses- it always sounds amazing to me when a friend actually gets up to do this!

He was asking me what should be the way, and I simply told him what I have done again and again for all of my products and websites-

In your domain-

  • find the thing you are the best at
  • develop a four to five step process around it (I bet it's already there, but you can improvise on it)
  • write down the characteristics of the person who this would be the most useful to
  • package your service nicely inside a presentation offer (a website would be a good to have here)
  • start sending outreach emails from your personal email address (I learned it from my last mentor- good old trick and does the job perfectly!- Also protects your company domain name from spam).

And he seemed excited and ready with a plan for the next two weeks- defining his offer and his ICP.

While having this conversation with him, I realized how I have the knowledge, skills, and experience to scale more of my services, but most of that goes out when I'm telling these ideas to someone else, or even implementing these ideas into someone else's business.

I made my first successful sales funnel for my client in 2023. After that I've made multiple such funnels that I keep refining, fine tuning, and optimizing. However, I'm yet to finalize the perfect funnel for my services.

But hey, I'm learning, becoming better at business, and making sure that my clients get rich so I can keep getting richer with them.

Tomorrow, I may write about my SEO coach and how I'm now about to rework that idea. Frankly speaking, I may even have redone it by the time I sit down to write tomorrow's blog- anyway, you'll hear it all from me. See you tomorrow, bye bye!
